Winnipeg.hu – Your gateway to Hungary
The Kárpát Hungarian Folk
Dancers of Winnipeg, founded in 1987, is a group of dedicated young people whose
goal is to learn about their culture. We preserve and pass on our cultural
heritage through the performance of Hungarian folkdance and song, in the
authentic tradition. Costing of a child’s and an adult group totaling 35
members, the Kárpát Dancers (members of the Folk Arts Council) are
regular performers in Winnipeg, especially during Folklorama, and in
rural Manitoba. We have also performed annually at the Western Canadian
Hungarian Folk Festival in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba,
as well as in the United States.
Our performances are
captivating, featuring vibrant Hungarian folk music and dancing, always worn
are beautifully embroidered authentic costumes from the many diverse regions of
Hungary, and among the highlights are the intricate shepherd’s stick dance and
the amazing girls’ bottle dance.
